My husband and I just returned from our first trip to Hawaii, and we stayed on the island of Oahu the entire time (7 days). This book was an indispensable guide that we would both highly recommend. The maps are excellent, the pictures are beautiful, the directions are specific and helpful, and it is loaded with information for all types of visitors. In addition to the basic tourist information, it also includes information about little known gems that will give visitors the option of going beyond the touristy stops. Use this book in addition to TripAdvisor for a fabulous vacation.

Just back from a week in Oahu with wife, 11 year old son, 12 year old son. Stayed in Waikiki, and used the guide to escape that beach — 2 trips to the North Shore, 2 to Central, 2 to East, "AZ Memorial" and Diamond Head, plus multiple other sites within HNL city. Ate in 3 recommended restaurants, which were very tasty. Worked very well. 2 waitresses told me that this was the guidebook they used when visited by people from the mainland. I would buy this book again.

My daughter and two friends are going to Oahu for spring break. I wanted to ensure they make the most of their trip, so I bought this book for suggestions. I read it cover to cover, highlighting and marking pages as I went. It reviews everything from beaches, drives, free activities, restaurants, and much more. I especially appreciated the "Don’t Miss" picks as well as the "Highly Recommended." When she is done with it, I am going to recommend she passes it along to any of her other friends that may make the trip, and if I ever get over there, I will definitely buy again and HIGHLY recommend to anyone hoping to get an insider’s "lay of the land."
